Description
This Beehive Bottom Board is the structural base assembled in high-quality American pine, with an integrated entrance for bees to come and go, and an added linseed oil finish applied to the entire exterior wood surface.
Linseed oil is a natural, traditional beekeeping treatment used for generations to protect hive wood without chemical paints. It penetrates deep into the pine fibers, sealing the pores and providing resistance to rain, moisture, and UV rays, while enhancing the wood's natural grain with a warm, golden tone. Unlike conventional paint, it doesn't chip or require frequent sanding, and maintenance simply involves reapplying a coat every one to two years.
This bottom board is the foundational piece that supports the hive boxes, protecting the structure from direct contact with the ground and moisture. Its entrance design facilitates bee traffic while keeping the hive ventilated. Compatible with the 10-frame Langstroth standard.
